Our Work
Mentorship
Beyond tuition, Rusalia provides academic and personal mentorship to scholars as they continue their high school and university studies. Our mentorship curriculum covers a wide range of topics including academic, health, leadership, and skills training for our scholars, and works with scholars’ families to maximize the support for their success.
Role Models
By providing young women with new connections including an accomplished mentorship team of Kenyan professionals and additional support from the Notre Dame community and alumni of the Inspired Leadership Initiative, we create a community that encourages academic and personal success.
Financial Support
The regional and national level high schools that our Rusalia scholars attend are expensive by local standards. Unlike in the United States, Kenyan public high schools are not free of charge. Rusalia sponsors the education of all of its scholars including tuition, books, uniforms, boarding costs, and transportation.
We believe that positive role models play a critical role in Rusalia Resource Foundation's mission to empower economically disadvantaged girls in Kisumu, Kenya. By providing girls with access to strong female mentors and role models, the organization is helping to build their confidence, leadership skills, and self-esteem. Seeing other women who have achieved success and overcome challenges can inspire girls to pursue their own goals and aspirations, even in the face of adversity. Additionally, positive role models can provide girls with guidance and support as they navigate the challenges of high school and prepare for their futures. By connecting girls with strong female mentors and role models, Rusalia Resource Foundation is helping to build a community of empowered and confident young women who are poised to become leaders in their communities and beyond.
